What is THC? part I
What is THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)?
All most everyone knows that THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the chemical substance in cannabis accountable for its euphoric high. But what more could there be to know about cannabis’ primary psychoactive component? Whether you ask yourself this as a newbie to the cannabis world or as a seasoned professional wanting to expand your knowledge about this infamous cannabinoid, THC has likely been associated with cannabis since you have known this plant.
Step one to understanding THC is to inform yourself about cannabinoids. Cannabinoids are chemical substances found in the plant that connect with the brain and body at different levels. There exist a plethora of over 100 cannabinoids in the plant, but THC is most the most well known because of its famous feel-good factor.
THC was properly discovered by an Israeli chemist, Raphael Mechoulan in 1964, which was the beginning of the Cannabis Research road. This has now led to the unearthing of many more cannabinoids and the endocannabinoid system which is responsible for producing the THC-like substance our bodies produce to stay healthy and stable.
